Working memory has a strong influence on all aspects of academic learning and performance, and working memory deficits are likely to result in specific learning disabilities. Dehn’s working memory model is reviewed along with recommendations for a comprehensive assessment of working memory. Interventions for working memory are discussed, including cognitive load modifications, accommodations, working memory exercises, and teaching working memory strategies.

Comprehensive Assessment for Intervention (CAI) is an approved sponsor through the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education for psychologists.
