Evaluation of SLD in Multilingual Learners: A case study.

Samuel Ortiz

Presented by: Ortiz

This presentation will provide instruction and training in the application of theoretical and psychometric assessment principles within a practical, systematic framework for conducting valid and defensible evaluations of Specific Learning Disability in multilingual learners. The approach to assessment is based on current research regarding language, cognitive, and academic development, and their application to evaluation within a comprehensive, research-based framework for generating valid data to support conclusions and decisions regarding the presence or absence of SLD. The knowledge and skills gained from the presentation will be useful to practitioners at any level and forms a solid base for engaging in evaluation that constitutes defensible and current best practices and which is practical, legally defensible, fair, and enhances and elevates the efforts of all professionals working with multilingual learners regardless of bilingual competency.
