Word-Level Reading Difficulties (Dyslexia): From Initial Referral to Successful Intervention.

David A. Kilpatrick,

Presented by: Kilpatrick

Assuming adequate instruction, the vast majority of cases of poor word-level are due to the phonological-core deficit. This phenomenon results in difficulties with spelling, with sounding out words, and with remembering words for later retrieval. This presentation will cover how word-level reading works, why some struggle, and what is needed to “normalize” word reading performance. Direct connections between assessment and intervention will be presented.
